Is your office air conditioning or heating above the best practise at less than 40 NR noise rating or approximately 45 dB(A)? Noisy air conditioning systems can make it difficult to concentrate and have conversations which affects productivity and indoor air quality. This is mainly caused by incorrect sizing and/or installation of the plant, ducting, grilles, fans, filters, pumps and many more components that make up the system. We find that the majority of the systems we inspect do not meet best practise design guidelines of 40 NR noise rating or approximately 45 dB(A). In addition to a reduction in indoor air quality incorrectly sized, designed and installed heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) Systems can often cause the system to cost more to operate. It is best to get independent advice on how to rectify your system. Most systems can be modified to make them much quieter. A report can detail the changes required which can be used by the stakeholders to improve the system and after the changes have been made a follow up inspection can be made to ensure the modification works have been carried out as recommended. www.airmedic.com.au
